Start your trip in Quito, where you need to arrange your accommodation and boat transport for the two main places of this itinerary: Cuyaveno (from Lago Agrio) and Limoncocha (from Coca). Notice that you can only reach these two places through an organized tour. Head off to Papallacta, a little town with fantastic thermal waters set up among stunning mountains. Stay overnight at the village and continue your trip in the morning to Baeza. Baeza offers nature activities such as rafting, hiking, biking and bird spotting.

On your way to the east, it's worth it to stop at the 'Cascada de San Rafael', with 150m high, it's the highest waterfall in Ecuador. Return to the main route and go to Lago Agrio. On your way you can explore waterfalls, caves and tracks. Lago Agrio is the starting point to enter the deep jungle. From here, transport to the stunning National Park of Cuyaveno is by boat (pre booked tour). Meet a native community and explore the biodiversity of this unique place.

On your way back, head off to Coca. Here, a boat is taken to the lower part of the Napo river, direction Yasuní. Stop at Limoncocha and enjoy one of the magnificent hotels in the middle of the Amazonia. You will then be returned to Coca where you can continue your trip to the charming city of Tena. Some of the highlights include the esplanade on the banks of the river, primary forests, underground caves, waterfalls etc. Don't miss out the rafting, as this is the center of rafting in Ecuador. Pump your adrenaline with level III and IV rapids. Only suitable for adventurous! Only a few miles away is located the city of Misahuallí. An old river port with monkeys in the streets where you can also book a day trip to the jungle.

Finally, if time permits, go to a less known city called Macas. Go by the viewpoint of Indichuris. In this area a lot of indigenous communities and shamans live. This is an opportunity to know first-hand the culture of the Ecuadorian Amazonia.
