Yambo lagoon
It is called "Enchanted Lagoon" perhaps by its legends; It has subterranean slopes in the central part of where its waters are born; It can be observed that the lagoon has grown spectacularly because of the new irrigations that have been implemented in the surrounding areas.
The banks of the lagoon reveal the mirror of water of a green color that contrasts with the bluish horizon and a mountainous region that enriches the landscape and the conditions of the place.
Among the activities you can do are trekking, horseback riding, camping, observation, photography, among others.
This sector enjoys a great historical richness because it was a settlement of the paeces, branch of the Panzaleos and in the Cerro de Tamboloma are still remains of pre-inca ceramics. Yambo comes from the word Colorada Yamboc, which means Smoky lagoon, because in ancient times it suffered a great evaporation, explains the historian Oswaldo Navas.
In particular vehicle or public transport from the cantonal headwaters by the Panamericana Sur are 15 minutes; And inland is half an hour on foot.
