This is one of the last remaining dry tropical forest in Ecuador. It is 16 km west of Guayaquil and the home of more then 200 bird species. It is important to mention that the hill is habitat of the Guayaquil parrot, emblematic bird of the city. Monkeys, pumas, jaguars, dears and bears are common inhabitants of the park.
Cerro Blanco is opened from 9 to 16. On weekdays you should reserve to guarantee the presence of a guide. On the weekends the staff will be present. The site also has a native tree nursery, an interpretation center, a cycling path, parking lot and a camping area.
Take a bus to Chongon from the corner of 10 de Agosto and Garcia Moreno street in the center of Guayaquil. You may also take a bus to Playas or Salinas from the Terminal. In both cases leave on the 16th Km of the road to the coast, before the Holcim concrete plant. There is a big sign on the entrance for more information. From this point on you will need to walk for 10 min to the parking lot and the offices. A taxi from Guayaquil costs 20 USD and takes 20 min. By car, take the road to the coast and the exit to Cerro Blanco at the 16th Km.
