The Inka bath

LOJA-SARAGURO

At more than 1 Kilometer to the southeast of Saraguro in the rocks of the Lile Huilemón there are three caverns and a waterfall that is 150 m. High. The place has been a ceremonial and sacred site of the Inca for more than 1500 years. When the Incas conquered they probably recognized what area was rare and had power. Currently the most important rituals of the Inti and Raymi Kayak are held on December 21 and June 21 of each year.

The Bath of the Inca proper is constructed by rectangular white carved stones in which the signs of the chisel are still visible. The most admirable thing in this bath is the carving of a stone with 12 angles, the same as the upper part, it is carved a protruding drop of water in the form of a jet.

The first lagoon that forms the waterfall is where the healing baths and rites are made, when they submerge in the lagoon, letting the water of the waterfall fall on the head.

Likewise, there is a natural cascade of very crystalline and silvery water that continuously feeds the water source and at its ends there emerges an extensive and fertile vegetation that, according to history, served as curtains to protect the powerful Inca Atahualpa from the cold and the sun, I used to bathe in this place.

On the floor of the bathroom just in the fall of the water there is a deeper part in rectangular shape extending directly to the drain and then be led to a kind of underground pipe.
