GALAPAGOS-SAN CRISTOBAL

                                                San Cristóbal Island is one of the four inhabited islands in the Province of Galapagos. This island belongs, along with Floreana Island, to San Cristóbal Canton.

San Cristóbal Island is home to the urban parish of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno and the rural parish of El Progreso. Puerto Baquerizo Moreno is the political and administrative capital of the Province of Galapagos. This relatively small port has a population of approximately 7,000 inhabitants, mostly dedicated to tourism and fishing. In addition, here are the headquarters of most public institutions in the province.

One of the most notable characteristics of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno is the abundant presence of sea lions both in the port and in the nearby beaches of La Lobería, Playa Mann and Punta Carola. Along the Malecón you can find bars and restaurants that offer different types of food and drinks to the delight of visitors. Also, there are numerous tour operators offering tours on land and sea.

The destinations of the daily tours on land include the El Junco lagoon in El Progreso and the Puerto Chino beach. El Junco is a freshwater lagoon formed by the accumulation of rain in an extinct volcanic crater. The beach of Puerto Chino is a very popular destination for visitors who want to enjoy the sand, the sea and the sun. Here visitors can swim, surf and snorkel in the company of the unique fauna of the Galapagos.

The navigable tours include visits to Las Tijeretas, León Dormido and also Puerto Chino for diving and snorkelling activities. There are tours that include the visit to a single site; while there is also the 360 ​​tour which includes a complete tour around San Cristobal Island and stops at places like León Dormido and Puerto Chino.
