The San Cristóbal's Esplanade is a beautiful corridor by the shore where visitors can find sea lions sunbathing on beaches, rocks, docks and even on benches and sidewalks. The presence of sea lions results in a very peculiar mixture between the natural and the urban landscape. However, any physical contact with sea lions, as well as feeding them, is not allowed.
This area was recently regenerated and also houses a variety of restaurants and shops to buy handicrafts and souvenirs of the islands. In addition, there are cultural dance and music groups that regularly practice in the public areas of the Malecón. The official presentations take place on Thursday night on the so-called Cultural Thursday. The Malecón is also a favorite place to open houses and exhibitions of diverse nature.
The Esplanade stretches along the coast of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno from the Naval Base to Playa de Oro. You can access the Esplanade walking from any point of the port.
