Salinas de Tomabela (Salinas de Guaranda or Salinas de Bolívar), is a quiet, productive, stockbreeding and tourist town; It is a charming land and in the vicinity of the parish there are geological and strange formations of interest for archaeology and history, and even when going from Salinas to Simiatug is distinguished in an immense plain of side and side living stone groups that resemble famous cities with castles, cliffs, towers, columns and statues, as well as monoliths of times ago.
Inside the cliffs of the Tiahua River are the archeological or prehistoric caves that are mute witnesses of the history through which they went through their population.
With its 98 community companies of which they are cheese-making parties, a factory of candies, sausages, a spinning and numerous other popular initiatives, this small Andean locality has become a wonderful corner where solidarity and perseverance allows to improve, day by day, the living conditions of the salters.
It is 4 hours from Quito and 30 minutes from the city of Guaranda.
It is located 30 km from Guaranda, the Vias de Ambato, Riobamba and Guaranda lead to Salinas, converge in the site called 4 Corners, 10 km before Guaranda, from that point is continued 20 km by road to reach Salinas. On the 15th of May Guaranda you can board buses that take you to Salinas.
