Puerto Lopez beach
Puerto Lopez is a small fishing town southeast from Manabi. It is a very popular destination for surfers and beach lovers. This is also the largest town in the surroundings of the Machalilla National Park and therefore a good starting point for discovering the area. Also you can enjoy good quality seafood at Puerto Lopez.
The most effective way to reach Puerto Lopez by Bus from Quito is: first, arrive to Manta or Portoviejo (9 hours) and second, from either take a bus to Puerto Lopez (1,5 hours). With a provate car the best route is: Quito, Santo Domingo, Chone, Portoviejo, Jipijapa. Alternative you can also go through: Santo Domingo, Pedernales, Chone, Bahia and Portoviejo.
From Guayaquil it is possible to arrive to Jipijapa, Portoviejo or Manta (4-5 hours) and then to take a bus to Puerto Lopez (1,5-2 hours). By car the fastest route is: Guayaquil, Nobol, Jipijapa, Puerto Lopez (3,5 hours). It is also very popular to drive through Montañita.
