The traditional hot springs of Papallacta is a private business that has a group of thermal water pools. The spa has crystal clear waters with all temperature levels. Within the set there are a SPA ($39 - $ 99), accommodation, Restaurant and sale of snacks, souvenirs and SPA items. It also has emergency medical service, free floats for children and lockers service ($ 1 with $ 5 key guarantee).
The climate in the place is cold - wet highlands forest at 3250 meters above sea level which indicates low temperatures throughout the year. The best time is from December to March where it does not rain much and you can have clear days. In addition to the fog, it can rain especially during the months of June, July and August. However, rain and fog create a magical atmosphere with 40-centigrade pools where external weather is not felt.

FROM QUITO:
You can take a bus ($ 3, 2 hours) from Quitumbe towards Baeza, Lago Agrio or Tena and ask the driver to leave you in Papallacta. To reach the hot springs there is no public transport. Therefore, you must take a taxi - van ($ 1 minimum 3 people, 10 min) or walk to the hot springs 1.5 km.
Another simple way (if you are in the north of Quito) is to take a bus at the Rio Coca station towards Tumbaco (0.4, 45 min). Then take the buses that go to Baeza, Lago Agrio or Tena that pass through Tumbaco ($ 2, 1 hour).
There are tours from Quito that take you and bring you to the hot springs (from $ 20) some tours include hiking to the Cayambe Coca national park that is very close to the Papallacta hot springs.
