In Papallacta, quichua for Land of Potatoes, you will find the Papallacta Lagoon and a series of thermal baths. From the town you can observe the Antisana volcano on sunny days. The Papallacta lagoon is a strategic drinking water source for Quito. From this point you can also reach the northern part of the Antisana National Park.
From Quito:
Take a bus departing from the Terrestrial Terminal in direction to Baeza, Lago Agrio or Tena. To arrive to the thermal baths ask the driver to let you out at the crossing to the town of Papallacta and wait for a taxi or walk to the baths for 1,5 km.
By car take any exit to Cumbaya, head to Puembo and continue by the road 28 C in direction to Baeza. A faster way is to take the Ruta Viva in direction to the airport and exit at the Pifo roundabout in direction to Baeza. After Pifo you may encounter road works, this is a small patch which does not influence the traffic.
