Las Ninfas is a lagoon of seawater filtered inland through a narrow corridor of rocks and vegetation. This lagoon is surrounded by mangroves and here visitors can see several species of fish that use this lagoon as a nursery while they are young before going into deeper waters. Also, visitors can admire many species of seabirds nesting in the mangroves or hunting small fish. This is an ideal place to take a short, quiet walk while contemplating the beautiful natural landscape.
Las Ninfas lagoon is located at the southern end of Juan Montalvo street. You can reach this point by walking from the Puerto Ayora pier. The walk takes about 5 minutes starting from the west end of Charles Darwin Avenue and taking Baltra Avenue north or in-town. Then, turn left into Charles Binford Street and turn left again into Juan Montalvo Street.
Another way to get there is to hire a taxi-van from any point of the port to Las Ninfas for a cost of USD 1.50.
