The MNI is located in the center of the city of Guayaquil, the museum houses a collection of more than 2,000 pictorial and sculptural works from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries and nineteenth-century Republican art. The exhibition Cosmogony introduces the visitor to the iconography of colonial art through the four elements: fire, Earth, air and water. In addition, there are temporary exhibition halls in which emergent proposals are presented, a documentary centre and spaces for the permanent development of educational activities
