Misahualli is a small town 25 km from Tena. It is located between the Napo and Misahuallí rivers. Years ago this was the last port to enter the Amazon. It is a very quiet city perfect for a day on its beautiful white sand beach, visit the nearby places and sail on the river.
From Misahuallí you can visit the Latas waterfall and the Pununo ancient tree. From the port you can navigate to the city of Coca in a private boat. There are many boats that offer different attractions sailing in the river such as excursions in the jungle, visits to aboriginal communities that are on the banks of the river, visits to animal rescue centers.
Misahuallí is known for the white sand beach (700m) next to the port where you can enjoy a beach atmosphere on the banks of the Misahuallí River. both the city and the beach are populated with Machin monkeys that appear and disappear looking for food from tourists. The traditional dish of the place is the Maito fish or chicken.
BY BUS:
From Tena to Misahuallí (25Km, $ 1.45) The buses leave every 30 minutes from 6am until 8pm from Tena bus terminal to the central park of Misahualli.
There is a bus from Quito to Misahuallí with only one schedule per day. Company Amazonas ($6, 5 hours). You will have more options if you take a bus to Tena and then to Misahualli.
