Mica Lagoon - Antisana National park
- La MICACOCHA
In the Antisana páramos to the south west of this volcano we find the lagoon of La Mica, above 3900 m. s. n. m. and with a mystical landscape surrounded by pajonales, it is easy to observe several species of Andean birds, such as ducks, bandurrias, curiquingues, and many other species of mammals that are somewhat more cautious and timid. The condor, now an occasional visitor to the area, shows how extraordinary it is, one of its last refuges.
The water of La Mica is crystalline and above all very cold, and even though it is not very common for a natural attraction to have a good access road, it has it, because it serves as a drinking water supply for the south of Quito. .
It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places that can be accessed from the Valley of the Chillos.
Departing from Pintag, on the road that goes to the Antisana, after passing two controls, and approximately one hour of trip we arrive until the MICACOCHA.
