Maquipucuna reserve - Ecuador

                                                Maquipucuna is a biological reserve of 6,000 hectares of cloud forest in Ecuador. Located in the province of Pichincha, is the rainforest closest to Quito, capital of Ecuador. The reserve consists of mountain with primary and secondary rainforest and cloud forest. 1 The Maquipucuna Reserve is located in the parish of Nanegal, within the Metropolitan district of Quito.

The reserve includes four different habitat zones, from 900 to 2785 meters above sea level, and is home to a great diversity of flora and fauna. Located in the Chocó-Andean corridor, it is in an area known by scientists as one of the five most important in the world in biodiversity spotlights.
