On 20 January 1911, the Vice-Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Rafael Araujo M., delivered the finished work of the Parque Abdon Calderón.
The Central Park Abdon Calderón was the stagecoach of a special committee. The genealogical history of many Pasajeños was the greatest stimulus to take the Calderon park of the city of Cuenca as a patron.
On the occasion of the first centenary of the cry of Independence 10 August 1809, in 1909 the political chief Don Emeterio Rodríguez Madero and honorable people of the place unanimously baptize as Independence Square, to the place where the central square of the canton would be installed, also change the name of the street previously called trade by which it is currently August 10.
