Machachi is an Ecuadorian city, capital of the canton Mejía in the province of Pichincha. It is located approximately 40 minutes south of Quito, a city with which it maintains geographical, historical and population links, since its economic, social and commercial activity is strongly linked to Quito, being "dormitory city" for hundreds of people who cross to Quito by land.
It has been famous for its mineral water slopes rich in free carbonic acid, which has long been bottled for consumption by Ecuadorians.
