Macas Cathedral

                                                The first Sanctuary was not a great church, it was a cave worked on a mountain in 1591, it was adapted to serve as lodge to Mr. Juan de la Cruz. Unearthing some of its niches that have been found near the copal of which the Macas and its districts supplied to all the audience of Quito this sanctuary was very close to the city of Seville of Gold discovered by the Father Pedro Porras 24 of July 1986.

The modern cathedral was built years later by the collaboration of other places.

The sanctuary has a single nave and its front is composed of three levels, in the center is an image of white christ and six meters high, one of its most important elements are stained glass, made in Cali, Colombia , That allow to visualize the history of the city of Macas and the history of the Virgin.

Those who represent history in the transformation of the Purísima de Macas venerated by Catholics for two feasts on 5 August is celebrated with walks and pilgrimages made by its faithful and that of February 18.
