                                                It is one of the largest churches in Ecuador, is located in the center of the city in front of the Central Park. It is eclectic in style, with Historicist, neoclassical and Corinthian elements. It has been restored three times, the last in the year 2004.

The cathedral with its unique architectural style, its baldachin and carved enmadera choirs, receives every year the Virgin of the Swan.

The cathedral is a church that is composed of three naves, is of semigothic style and compose its facade four bodies topped by a tower and its belfry.

At your feet you will find the Central Park of Loja, in the centre of which is a monument to Bernardo Valdivieso; The Palace of the provincial Council; Government or quartermaster, the Episcopal House and the municipal palace.
