Las Penas hill - Guayaquil
The Las Peñas neighbourhood on the Santa Ana hill is one of the most traditional areas of Guayaquil. It is located at the north end of the Malecon 2000 and has been recently reshaped. The houses are painted in colorful tones and have been repaired. However, the interior maintains the rustic appearance. Some houses have opened as restaurants and bars, very popular among locals and tourists. On top of the hill there is a lighthouse. From this point, there is a magnificent view of the river and the city. The lighthouse is open to the public. It is recommended not to walk on the dark zones of the staircases at night.
