Indichuris Lookout ($4 per person)
Located 30Km from Puyo, Indichuris lookout is part of Indichuris Etnoturist Center. This project is administrated by an aboriginal community called Indichuris (Sun’s children). It’s an amazing lookout where you can appreciate the confluence of the rivers Puyo and Pastaza. The lookout is at the top of a hill, where you can find hammocks and a huge swing. In order to reach the top you need to walk around 10 min uphill from the parking area.
There you can find some small cottages where you can sleep ($8 per person). The community organises aboriginal performances, canoe rides ($10pp, max 4 people), chaman rituals, ayahuasca ritual ($30) and also they can prepare traditional food.
To reach the place, you need to take the highway Puyo – Macas. After 16Km from Puyo take right on an asphalt road to Pomona. Then, continue for another 13Km in an asphalted road until you reach the Indichuris community. You need 45 minutes to reach the place in your own car.
BY BUS:
You can take a local bus from outside of the bus terminal in Puyo to Pomona. Ask the driver to drop you in Indichuris community ($1, 70 min).
BY TAXI: A taxi from Puyo will charge you around $20.
BY TOUR: There are some organise daytrips from Puyo. Ask the hotels for more information. Normally, the itinerary includes guide, canoe ride, and transportation for around ($60 pp)
