Guayas province Ecuador

GUAYAS-GUAYAQUIL

Guayas, officially province of Guayas, is one of the 24 provinces that make up the Republic of Ecuador, located in the Littoral region of the country, south-west of it. Its capital is the city of Guayaquil. It is the largest commercial and industrial center in Ecuador. With its 3,800,000 inhabitants, Guayas is the most populated province in the country and contains 24.5% of the population of the Republic. The province takes the name of the most plentiful and important river of its territory, the Guayas River. With its 2,500,000 inhabitants (more than 68% of the provincial population), the city of Guayaquil is not only the largest city in the province, but also the largest city in Ecuador.

The main tourist attraction of Guayas was its spas, however, after the creation of the province of Santa Elena in the year 2007, the province lost most of its profile coastal, so the main spa Guayasense became General Villamil, better known as beaches. Among its main tourist attractions are the Pink beach and the Punta El Baldo. Within the same Playa Canton there are several communes with outstanding beaches. The communes Engabao and Puerto Engabao are refereciales points in the practice of surfing, which is why the Reef Classic was held there in 2014.15 It is also worth mentioning the variety of typical dishes from which those with the highest demand are: Marine rice, albacore onions, mixed ceviche, roasted oyster, among others. Near General Villamil, you will find the rural parishes of Posorja and El Morro, both belonging to the Guayaquil Canton, which are connected by a road parallel to the profile coastal, in which are located several enclosures (small towns) with ample tourist boom like the Arenal, Data de villamil, data of Posorja; Besides Varadero Beach.

Despite the fact that at present the parish of El Morro has descended its population, there are several tourist points of great relevance as the Cerro El Muerto, which, at some distance, seems to have the form of a man lying or dead; The colonial Church of San Jacinto dating from the 17th century; And in the port El Morro enclosure you can see extensive mangrove swamps. However, the biggest tourist point of this area are the Dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) that can be spotted on sea routes through the canal El Morro.
