Located in the heart of the country, Guaranda is the smallest provincial capital in the Sierra del Ecuador. Its warm temperature (22 to 25 degrees Celsius) makes it attractive to visitors. Its neighborhoods are full of local communities in cold páramos. The regional celebration of their carnivals has achieved great fame along with its traditional "blue bird" brandy made mainly of sugar cane and meat or chicken broth.
The city is known as the city of the seven peaks at 2650msnm, San Jacinto, Loma de Guaranda, San Bartolo, Cruzloma, Tililac, Talalac and El Mirador.
