RECOMMENDATIONS
It is recommended not to touch the MANZANILLO tree, as it is toxic. The sap of this tree, present in the leaves and fruits that have the appearance and smell of small green apples, can cause burns on the skin of those who touch it.
Visitors can get to the Galapaguera by walking from the center of Puerto Villamil or by taking a taxi-van for USD 5.00. Visitors walking must take the road to the Wetlands-Wall of Tears; at the end of the village there is an intersection just after the Hotel Iguana Crossing, just to the left of this hotel is the wooden path that leads only to the Galapaguera. Along this trail visitors can see marine iguanas, flamingos and other birds. The journey from the start of the trail to the Galapaguera takes approximately 15 minutes.
