El Quinche sanctuary

PICHINCHA-QUITO

                                                This sanctuary is of pilgrimage and adoration to the Virgin of the Quinche brought from Oyacachi on March 10, 1604. It constitutes one of the sanctuaries most visited by the parishioners and romeriantes in Ecuador. The sanctuary, despite the earthquakes, remains preserved.

The bodies of the tower are reinforced in their corners with stone elements, on the ground floor and brick in the upper bodies. The church is developed from the main park through a large atrium that leads to a frontispiece of two bodies, with two lateral towers of three bodies, topped with ochabados drums covered by a ribbed dome.

The current sanctuary is of lime and brick the total capacity of the sanctuary for pilgrims standing: 3556 people and for sitting 966 people, has a total area built in plant of 2049 m2.
