Cuenca Cathedral - Ecuador

AZUAY-CUENCA

The new cathedral is the most representative religious symbol of the city. Its location responds to the condition of centrality and religious power, in front of the central square, occupying half of the block located on the western side. Its volume, texture and color, are spotted from all angles of Cuenca, including the surroundings. Its façade is of stone and local marble, while the floor is covered with pink marbles, imported from Carrara (Italy).

It has a beautiful blue dome with other minors that characterize the landscape of the city. Despite the unusual feature, which occurred by mistake, the new cathedral of Cuenca is a monumental work of faith, which began to be built in 1880.
