The artisan market that came into operation since July 24th, 1982, is the site of integration of artisans and merchants whose merchandise is based on manufactures. Its construction, is the work of the municipality with the purpose of facilitating the commercialization of handicrafts, in addition to creating work places and to favor the national and foreign tourism.
The building occupies a block, it is two-storey that are divided into cubicles, owns 250 commercial premises and has the basic services to the service of the traders and visitors. In the place there are workshops specializing in jewellery, Malateia, watches, products in various materials such as: leather, wood, woven, Toquilla straw, steel, copper, silver, to others: instruments, paintings, and paints.
In private vehicle or public transport to Loja Street and Alfredo Baquerizo Moreno Avenue, if you take the Metrovia the station closest to the market is the stop Las Peñas.
