It is a quiet village of fertile land, meadows and countryside settled on the slopes of Cotacachi. It is considered the Musical Capital of Ecuador because of the devotion expressed by its people for music and called Castillo de Luz because of the combination of natural, cultural and, above all, handmade elements, which makes it the most prosperous canton of the province.
Cotacachi offers a unique experience in purchases of leather goods and crafts. You can find jackets, wallets, footwear, luggage, travel line, belts and a number of finely finished products.
In the center of the city you will find a large number of stores that elegantly display their products. The largest credit cards are generally accepted.
In the center you will also find interesting places to visit such as the main park and the Mother Church, several museums and a large pedestrian area to enjoy walking.
Its privileged geographic location in the foothills of the Cotacachi Volcano, allows to visualize a beautiful landscape and enjoy a unique natural environment.
Cotacachi Canton is located north of Quito, capital of Ecuador, in the Province of Imbabura, is the largest canton of the six that make up the Province with an area of 1809 km2 approximately.
The bus cooperatives that lead to Cotacachi are San Cristóbal, Pullman Carchi, Imbabura Velotax fleet, Andina, Expreso Turismo, Espejo. In the branch that goes to Cotacachi, you take a bus every 10 min until 8:30 p.m. or a taxi until 10 p.m.
