Work of the master of plastic arts Oswaldo Guayasamín, a man of San Francisco ancestry and of great trajectory in painting, sculpture and engraving, whose works have been recognized internationally.
It has an average height of 12 meters and is made of embossed bronze, iron and concrete, the base is covered with red ceramic, symbolizing the burning of Quito, before the arrival of the Spaniards.
Sculpture in honor of our courageous indigenous warrior Rumiñahui who proclaimed to his people "fire and ashes for the invaders"; the lances on the sides symbolize the indigenous people in struggle, their outstretched arms remind us of the courage and pride of our race.
