Chobshi black cave

AZUAY-SIG-SIG

                                                This important archeological site constitutes one of the oldest in the country. It has found evidence of the presence of the first Ecuadorian men. This site is located culturally at the time of the preceramic and in which the population of Ecuador was constituted by migrations that came from several places. These first men lived on hunting, fishing and harvesting wild fruits. They were nomads and were organized in small societies.

It is located in a ravine over the gorge known as the Dry Bridge. The cave floor is about 20 meters wide and 15 meters on the bottom wall. The depth is 8 to 9 meters in the central part.
