The Canton Chimbo is a subnational Ecuadorian territorial entity, of the province of Bolívar. It is located in the center of the Sierra region. Its cantonal headboard is the city of San José de Chimbo, a place where much of its total population is grouped. Chimbo was created as a canton, on March 3, 1860 by García Moreno.
The trade in handicrafts (pyrotechnics, armoury, woodworking, ceramics) and agricultural products are highlighted. The informal trade (bakery, gastronomy) is very significant, so it is constituted in the source of the family sustenance especially of the woman Chimbeña.
From Guaranda take the road to Balzapamba, towards the coast, approximately to 15 min is Chimbo. The bus line ten of November makes the route to these towns from Guaranda.
