The regional museum includes a collection of cultural properties from the Aboriginal era from its earliest stage (Paleo-Indian), to the Inca incursion (15th century) in the current provinces of Bolívar and Chimborazo, and shows the cultural connections with the provinces of Tungurahua, Cañar, Pastaza and Morona Santiago.
In the year that closed the museum central Bank of Ecuador, the cultural house of Chimborazo, I make a purchase of the books of the center. In the year of 1999, they began with the reconstruction of the old museum that is located in the fast streets and Juan Montalvo and began its remodeling and readjustment.
By the year 2002, the new Central Bank Museum was inaugurated in April. The objective of the reconstruction is that the cultural center of Riobamba has its own cultural spaces and of great historical value such as the central Bank of Ecuador.
The pieces that are exhibited today are a great historical Ecuadorian recapitulation, where they show groups from the provinces of Tungurahua, Bolívar and Chimborazo. In the museum, models depicting the life of Pueblo Puruhá are shown.
