Cayambe main church

PICHINCHA-CAYAMBE

                                                The church is located on the south side of the main park of Cayambe, it is eclectic in style and retains its original forms of colonial origin. This church is of liturgical and religious use, it constitutes an archaeological milestone by the singular characteristics of its facade, the structural conception and use of materials.

Inside the temple you can see some pictorial and sculptural works such as the Virgin of Intag, the sorrowful, the Virgin of Guadalupe, San Francisco, The Immaculate, the heart of Jesus, the Crucifix of Souls, Santa Rita de Acacia, among others.

The most revered are the images of the Apostle Saint Peter and the Virgin of Intag or Our Lady of Miraflores, the latter being brought into procession in times of drought. The faith of the parishioners refers that in a matter of days and hours the rain is produced. The building of the Matriz Church is of blind walls and continues the second body with arches where the bell is located.

The park and the population with characteristics of traditional popular architecture make up the wonderful environment surrounding the church.
