The garden is a sample of the conversation of species of high scientific value, due to its great diversity and endemism. By the characteristics of the garden, the plants are organized by sections, and in the vast majority of the cases, classified by family, genus and species.
It is considered among the largest in Ecuador and South America. It is managed by the headquarters of the Catholic University in Santo Domingo and has a research center and self-guided trails.
The climate favors the development of native Amazonian trees and lowland epiphytes of the family Orchidaceae, Bromeliads and Araceae.
