The boat rides through Estero Salado have always been a tradition of Guayaquil, a tradition that had been lost due to the neglect of the estuary and its surrounding areas. Its history dates back to the year 1841 when the site was known as "the Cut" and served to bathe because it was considered that the waters by its brackish condition had medicinal properties.
The rowing boat pier with capacity for 4 to 15 people, Nautas cycle and eco-touristic walks. The activity is highly recreational and allows you to walk through the estuary to have a direct contact with nature and to appreciate the flora and fauna of the sector.
In the place are rented traditional wooden boats, and some fiberglass that are lighter at the moment of rowing. The boats are provided with parasols. In case the tourist does not know how to paddle can hire the services of a paddler. Pedal boats, called swans and motor boat rides are also offered.
The time of the rent is for 45 minutes and the most usual route to paddle is leaving the bridge the sailboat to the University of Guayaquil. Another route is to paddle towards the 17th Street Bridge to go to the shores of the restored and colorful houses of the western suburb of Guayaquil.
One can also paddle, in the opposite way, passing under the bridge 5 of June, until arriving at the Citadel Urdesa, in whose route one appreciates the flora and fauna of the sector. As for animals you can see birds, herons and patillos and nest in the trees. And in the flora the mangrove is appreciated, in its four species: white, red black and Jelí. The use of the life jacket is compulsory for all sailors.
