Singular temple, unique for various aspects, throughout the Republic, contains in itself a monument to the art and dedication where it sings the stone carved by the hands of our artists, together with the altarpieces of magisterial proportions. On the main altar is the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The Basilica is crowned by a harmonious and beautiful dome, it is run by the Jesuit Fathers as well as the chapel and the educational unit San Felipe.
The masses and the prayers were the main ingredients to be able to complete this work of Christian faith. On the main façade of the temple is a monumental statue of Christ the King, raised on the occasion of the centenary of the first constituent.
At the foot of the statue, two sentences of the first fundamental letter of the state are engraved: "In the name of God, author and lawgiver of the Society".
One can observe the same sentence that the heroes of the independence recorded in its monument, in Latin phrase it says "free under the sign of the cross".
