Basilica Montecristi - Ecuador

MANABI-MONTECRISTI

                                                The minor Basilica of the Virgen de Monserrat, which can be observed from several kilometres away from the town, was built by the Yugoslav Parson Emil Palcic, between 1959-1962. The steps leading to the basilica are 10 meters high.

On the outside there are two Roman-style towers, which are the main characteristic of all their construction.

It has been considered one of the most beautiful architectural pieces of Manabí, visited constantly by countless faithful and devotees that increase their faith more and more.

In the Basilica Menor there is the Virgen de Monserrat, constituted in the main attraction for tourists, to where thousands of parishioners arrive every year.

The festival in honor of the Virgin of Monserrat has been constituted in the greatest expression of faith, both of the Montecristense people, as of faithful of other points of the province and the country.
