Baltra island - Airport Galapagos

GALAPAGOS-SANTA CRUZ

Baltra Island is a small island of the Galapagos, has an area of 27 km2. Visitors to the Galapagos Archipelago often set foot here for the first time as it is the location of the main airport, Seymour Airport. The airport was built by Americans during World War II. This island is located only 1 km from the north coast of Santa Cruz Island and has no tourist attractions to more than a few shops for last minute gifts. However if you have a little time you may want to leave the airport and explore the surroundings and look for the local land iguanas.

For those who have pre established their tour they often meet with their guide at the airport. From here you will be transferred to your yacht or begin your first excursion in Santa Cruz. Many cruises start from the small port in Baltra.
