Ambato city Ecuador
Located in the center of the country, Ambato is a commercial city surrounded by mountains and from where you can see the Tungurahua volcano (5023m) active since 1999. In the "Monday fair" thousands of people come from their rural communities looking to sell its agricultural and livestock products in the main markets of the city. Its parks and "quintas" (historic houses converted into parks) give a respite from the hectic city atmosphere.
Ambato and its surroundings are famous for the fruits and flowers that are produced in this region, from which the name of its main festivity "The Feast of Fruits and Flowers" celebrated at each year's carnival.
