Alausí (3300msnm) is a picturesque city with beautiful balconies and old buildings. It is known as the starting point for the train ride "Nariz del Diablo", a bold train descent in the form of Zig-Zag at the beginning of the twentieth century. The city of Alausí is crowned by its patron through a monument to "San Pedro" located on Lluglli hill, where you can see excellent views.
BY BUS:
The bus terminal is located three blocks from the train terminal on Calle 5 de Junio. From there, frequent buses depart to Riobamba and nearby towns. The buses from Riobamba to Cuenca sometimes pass through the city otherwise you have to walk about 1.5Km from the highway.

BY TRAIN:
The tourist train leaves from Riobamba to Alausí from Tuesday to Friday 6:30 am, $ 50 and returns from Alausí-Riobamba from Tuesday to Friday at 12:45 pm, $ 50.
This route is known as the Quinoa route, where you can enjoy the great landscapes of the Ecuadorian highlands next to the traditional Quinua plantations of this area. The tour takes a little more than four hours and includes, tickets, tourist guide, entrance to the center of the Quinoa, cultural presentation and traditional snack.
